Why the Hunger Walk?

  • A record number of people suffering from hunger both locally and globally - more than 1 billion world wide.
  • According to a September 2009 United Nations report, despite a record level of people suffering from hunger, food aid is at a 20-year low due the poor global economy.
  • A 320% increase of people at risk of homelessness or in a homeless situation in the Grand Rapids community during the past year.
  • As of 2008, a state ranked third in the nation for reported hate crimes and considered one the most segregated in the country.
  • A community quickly changing in religious landscape.
  • A core of faithful people who care about the well-being of their community and their world.

That's why.  Walk with us.
